About energyRe

energyRe is an independent American energy infrastructure company focused on the hardest problem in U.S. power: delivering new electricity to where demand is growing. The company develops across three integrated layers of the grid — utility-scale generation and storage, high-voltage transmission, and distributed energy — giving energyRe a deliverability advantage that pure-play generation developers cannot match.

energyRe's utility-scale platform develops solar and solar-plus-storage projects around the country. The portfolio is distinguished not by its size but by its maturity: projects offered to customers feature 100% site control, secured points of interconnection, completed interconnection studies, and among the lowest costs-to-connect in their markets, with full environmental and geotechnical diligence complete. In 2022, energyRe acquired Southern Current, a South Carolina-based developer that had brought more than 100 projects totaling over 1 GW to operation, anchoring deep utility relationships and a proven construction track record in the Southeast. energyRe's first wholly-owned solar-plus-storage project reached commercial operation in South Carolina in 2024. energyRe's project pipeline is nearly 2GWs worth of projects, with 600MWs in operation or active construction and 1.3 GWs in late-stage development.

energyRe is one of the few independent developers in the United States with bulk transmission capability. The company is developing SOO Green, a 350-mile, 2,100 MW underground HVDC transmission line connecting MISO and PJM along active railroad rights-of-way — an innovative siting approach that minimizes landowner impact and permitting risk while linking the nation's largest electricity markets. energyRe's transmission business is supported by a strategic investment from Elia Group, one of Europe's leading transmission system operators.

Through Radial Power, its distributed energy platform launched with Lotus Infrastructure Partners, energyRe delivers on-site solar, storage, and EV charging to multi-site commercial and industrial real estate portfolios, with more than 1 GW in development.

energyRe was founded in 2021 by principals of The Related Companies, one of the largest privately held real estate firms in the United States, and is further capitalized by institutional investors including Glentra Capital, Novo Holdings, and PKA following a $1.2 billion equity raise. The company's executive team brings decades of experience from EDP Renewables, where its members oversaw more than $20 billion of renewable energy investments, executed over $4 billion in financing commitments, and operated more than 8 GW of projects.
